When I pulled up to the house where Kate & her bridesmaids were getting ready and heard the excited chatter and music blasting, I *knew* it was going to be a good day!! These girls were all SO joyful & so much fun – I could hear them laughing the entire time I was shooting Kate’s details. When the sun came out (for the first time in WEEKS), I knew that it was destined to be the perfect day. Ryan and the groomsmen were getting ready just through the woods (seriously, it was literally a few hundred yards away ????) and when I showed up I could hear them all laughing as well. Ryan was SO excited to hear about his gorgeous bride as I shot a few portraits on the front lawn, and all the groomsmen piled onto the dock for a few shots.
When Kate got dressed, her dad came over and we did an impromtu first look as he came up the stairs – he was THRILLED to see his beautiful daughter in her wedding dress! At one point I looked behind me and saw her mom and sister crying as they watched it. Kate & Ryan’s first look took place in the greenhouse at The Barn on the Pemi (it was the most incredible building!), and they were so. happy. to finally be able to see each other. Seriously, guys, I just love these two. They’re so happy when they’re together and they just radiated it all day long. They couldn’t look at each other without grinning like crazy. Not only did they have the sweetest families & bridal party, but one of their groomsmen officiated the ceremony – it was the perfect touch.
During the whole day, they were surrounded by such happiness and joy & they were constantly hugging and laughing their guests. Seeing the level of enthusiasm as they walked into their reception only amplified the feeling that I had – these two are seriously adored by their friends and family, and I can see why!! They started the reception off with a coordinated first dance (one of my favorites ever!), and kept the dancing going all. night. long.
Kate & Ryan…I am so thrilled for you two to start your married life together (in Hawaii!!), and I’m so truly honored that you chose me to document the biggest day of your lives!! xoxoxo.
