If you’re new here, in the last post I left off with a behind the scenes look at our master bedroom/bathroom mini makeover! To recap, we are going to wait a few years to completely demo this part of our house & it will encompass drywall, a walk in closet, and a completely renovated bathroom (ALLLLLL the heart eyes). Until then, we save up our pennies & dream about plans! So in the meantime, everything in here got painted – floor to ceiling in white. We brought in some new things to mix with the old (the gray trunk at the foot of the bed has lived in JB’s parents attic for 40+ years & survived a house fire!), but left all of the original bathroom fixtures (except for a new shower head & faucet). It is INCREDIBLE in there now!! The light that pours in those windows and bounces around makes the whole space feel almost like a spa. It is SO clean and bright & we couldn’t be happier with what a change the paint makes!!
For reference, this is what it looked like before:
And here is what it looks like today:
Can you even DEAL!? Because I can’t.
It’s a completely different space!! When we originally looked at the house the first time, I envisioned the paneling painted bright white & never in a million years would I think that it would look THIS good!!
Here’s the bathroom before:
And after:
It’s crazy what a little (or a lot) of paint can do!!
Can you believe that this is the same vanity?? I can’t recommend painting a cultured marble vanity top ENOUGH. It has made all the difference (and has held up gorgeously with daily use!).
The shelves were built out of 2×8’s and stained with my absolute favorite Minwax stain in Classic Gray & then screwed to the wall with basic brackets that I spray painted copper. I told you I really love DIY, right? Case in point: those succulents in the cans? I found cute ones just like that at Hobby Lobby for $18 a piece but refused to pay that so I made them myself for $6 a piece :).
We still have a few little things to tweak but for the most part – it’s done! It’s always so bright and happy in there & the amount of light that has been added to that side of the house is crazy!!
The moral of the story is: it may take you a month, 6 gallons of paint, hours of podcasts & 3 Harry Potter audiobooks BUT the end result is SO worth it!!
