Harvest Moon Retro Styled Shoot at Kings Hill Inn, South Paris, Maine
New England during wedding season? Drop-dead gorgeous. But as photographers who are drawn to bold, vibrant color stories, we started to notice a pattern: a lot of weddings here lean into soft, neutral palettes—which are beautiful, no doubt, just not always the creative spark we crave.
So instead of waiting for color to show up, we decided to create it ourselves.
Cue: the very first Evergreen Weddings Magazine Content Day—hosted at the dreamy King’s Hill Inn & Barn in South Paris, Maine. And let me tell you, it was a wild, beautiful, color-packed success.
Why King’s Hill Inn Was the Perfect Venue
Tucked into the rolling hills of Oxford County, King’s Hill Inn offers that sweet spot of Maine wedding magic: rustic charm, lush surroundings, and onsite accommodations for up to 50 people. (Yes—your whole crew can stay and not have to Uber down a dirt road at midnight. We love to see it.)
The venue gave us the perfect blend of indoor and outdoor options, with sweeping views, golden light, and just the right touch of cozy elegance that made every station feel like its own little styled dream.
What We Created: A Colorful Wedding Content Day for Photographers
We wanted to create a space for photographers to show up, shoot their hearts out, and leave with a portfolio full of scroll-stopping content—and that’s exactly what went down.
We planned a full day of styled shoot stations featuring:
-
Multiple real couples
-
Color-forward tablescapes inspired by autumn in Maine
-
A wild mix of textures, florals, and editorial details
-
Incredible local vendors (who crushed it, by the way)
The weather? Perfection. Peak foliage? On point. Our tablescapes basically matched the trees, and we’re not saying it was divine timing, but… it definitely was.
Was the behind-the-scenes chaotic? Oh, absolutely. Was there a moment we wondered if we were completely out of our minds for taking this on? Also yes. But watching so many creatives come together, collaborate, and thrive—that made it worth every second.
For Photographers, By Photographers
This wasn’t just about pretty photos (though there were so many). It was about building something bigger. A space where photographers from all over Maine and New England could come together, create without pressure, and leave feeling inspired. Whether you were shooting for your portfolio, experimenting with new techniques, or just soaking up the energy—this day was for you.
And guess what? We’re just getting started.
