Fall Family Session on Foss Mountain in Eaton, New Hampshire
There are some places that feel like pure New Hampshire magic, and Foss Mountain is absolutely one of them. So when Kelleigh & Tom reached out about doing a Foss Mountain family session for their fall photos, I think I replied “YES!!!” faster than I’ve ever typed anything.
I first met these two a few years ago when their oldest was still just a tiny little guy, so getting to photograph them again—this time with both boys and their sweet baby girl Stella—felt extra special. Watching families grow through my lens is honestly one of my favorite parts of this job.
A Dreamy Fall Afternoon on Foss Mountain
Photographing a family at the top of a mountain? Actual dream come true.
You get:
-
sweeping views
-
crisp fall air
-
glowing foliage
-
wild little breezes that make hair + clothing look whimsical
-
and lighting that hits differently on a summit
This fall Foss Mountain family session gave us all of that and more.
The boys were in absolute heaven—climbing rocks, exploring every little plant, running in circles, and soaking up all the freedom that comes with being on a mountaintop. If they’d gotten their way, we probably would have stayed until dark. And honestly? I wouldn’t have complained.
Why Foss Mountain Is Perfect for Fall Family Photos
If you’ve never been to Foss Mountain, imagine this:
A short, family-friendly hike that leads to one of the most stunning 360° views in the entire White Mountains region. It’s wide open, grassy, and smooth—perfect for kids to run around safely.
And at sunset? The whole place turns gold. Like… cinematic gold.
This is why a Foss Mountain family session is such a hit:
-
It feels adventurous without being overwhelming
-
Kids LOVE having space to explore
-
Parents get those beautiful mountaintop photos without a strenuous hike
-
The fall colors roll on forever
-
It’s impossible to take a bad photo up there
It’s one of my favorite New Hampshire locations for families, especially in the fall.
Capturing the Sweetest Season of Life
One of the biggest joys of photographing families year after year is getting to see everyone grow—parents settling into their roles more deeply, siblings learning to love (and sometimes lightly tackle) each other, and babies turning into little humans with big personalities.
During this Foss Mountain family session, the boys showed off their adventurous sides, Stella soaked in all the attention, and Kelleigh & Tom embraced the joyful chaos like pros. There were snuggles, giggles, rock investigations, surprise hugs, and one or two negotiations about snacks. You know… real family, real life, real love.
Those are always my favorite photos.
The Kind of Session That Stays With You
I left this session with a full heart, tired legs, and a memory card full of images that made me smile the entire drive home. Foss Mountain has that effect—it slows you down, grounds you, and makes everything feel a little softer and sweeter.
Kelleigh & Tom, photographing your family (all five of you!) was such a joy. I’m so grateful to have documented this chapter for you—your family is full of personality, warmth, and so much love, and it shows in every single photo.
I can’t wait to see you all again the next time your babies have grown another inch or two.
If you’re dreaming of natural, joyful, scenic family photos, Foss Mountain is one of the most beautiful—and accessible—spots in New Hampshire. Fall sessions here are pure magic, but honestly? It’s perfect year-round. Inquire here!
