One of my favorite things about New England couple’s sessions is how naturally they unfold when the environment does the talking. Photographing Sarah and Tyler at the lake was exactly that – simple, calm, and focused on what actually matters: the two of them and this season they’re stepping into. Setting their session at their new family home where they’ll spend their summers added a special element.
We started by the water with an easy pace. Sarah and Tyler were comfortable with each other right from the beginning, which made the session feel relaxed and honest. They moved together in a way that didn’t require much guidance—small interactions, natural smiles, and a clear connection that came through without forcing anything.
Sarah wore a simple white dress that worked perfectly with the lake setting. The light was soft, the surroundings were clean and uncluttered, and it all came together in a way that felt true to who they are. This is exactly why I value New England photography: it doesn’t need a lot of extras to feel complete.
We wrapped up back by the water. The light dropped, the temperature cooled a bit, and the session settled into a really comfortable ending. Sarah and Tyler were completely at ease by that point, and it shows in the final images. Straightforward, genuine, and focused on the connection that’s already present between them.
Sessions like this remind me why I love photographing work in New England. It doesn’t need to be elaborate. Honest moments in meaningful places are more than enough.
