4 Reasons You Should Book a Bridal Session

It’s no secret that I LOVE a bridal session. Traditionally, they’re more of a Southern thing, but in recent years they’ve made a surge in popularity, and it’s easy to see why!! Not only do you get to wear your dress AGAIN, you get to do your hair and makeup and have a relaxed shoot, instead of a few minutes that we can grab during your wedding day. It’s a fun way to extend that time when you feel like a princess, plus chances are you’ve had your dress for awhile and you’ve been staring at it in your closet!! Having a classic bridal portrait is one of the best things that you can pass down to your children and grandchildren, and before you think I’m crazy for saying that – raise your hand if you have a copy of your grandmother or mother’s bridal portrait. They’re classic and timeless and just plain FUN. Here are my top 4 reasons for booking a bridal session!!

Bride standing at top of mountain

1. You can choose ANY location for it. Do you want to hike to the top of a mountain in your wedding dress? Let’s do it. (It’s easier than you think!). Do you want to do it at your wedding venue? The ocean? Your parents backyard? You can go literally ANYWHERE for it. This works well for brides who are getting married with a very specific themed venue (think a winery or beach front wedding), because you can easily change up the tone of the session by changing your backdrop.

2. Usually you have a very particular look in mind for your bridal hair and makeup, right? Well – with a bridal session, you can totally change it up! If you want to add a veil for the shoot but not for you wedding day, feel free! A bridal session is a fun way to experiment with your wedding day glam & accessories. Have some funky jewelry you’d love to incorporate? Wear it!!

3. There’s that certain feeling when you put your wedding dress on and doing a bridal session is one way to feel that way again! I was someone who LOVED to dress up when I was little, and I loved wearing my dress again when I did a quick bridal session after my wedding. It was so much fun and so relaxed all around. I didn’t feel stressed AS the bride and loved having some creative liberty with the portraits.

4. My favorite reason of all – you have so much TIME! There’s no scrambling to get a handful of shots because we need to get back to cocktail hour, so we get a TON of gorgeous images of you all dolled up. It’s less stressful for everyone and far more enjoyable! Like I mentioned earlier, there’s more room for creativity – so if there’s a shot you really want, we can work to make it happen!

There you go – 4 of my top reasons to have a bridal session! I recommend scheduling them before your wedding day, although you can do them after as well! If you want to incorporate the images into your wedding day (ie: prints or albums for your partner or parents), I’d say we should plan to do them no later than a month before your date. Have any questions or thoughts, or reasons you love bridal sessions? Leave them in the comments!!
