One of the most commonly asked questions that I get from my couples before their sessions is, “What should we wear?”
As someone who’s been photographed a time or two, I can tell you I *still* get stressed about what to wear!!
Here are a few easy tips to remember:
-Steer clear of fluorescents & *too* much white,
-If you’re getting photographed in a wooded area or a field, try to stay away from wearing green (unless its an accessory!!),
-Wear what you feel comfortable in!! If you’re not comfortable in your outfit, it will show in the photos. On the same train of thought, make sure that your clothes fit WELL. If they’re a little big, the size difference will be exacerbated.
-LAYERS are your friend!! No matter what the season, layering accessories always looks great! Use scarves, long pendants, jackets, vests, etc.
-Coordinating colors is KEY! Make sure your outfits are complimentary in color – I usually choose 2 main colors with an accent color.
-Dress for the location!! Make sure that the clothes make sense for the location of your session. If you’re in a field, black tie clothing won’t work as well as if you were in an urban setting.
I always tell my brides that if they have any questions, they can contact me & we can work together to put together a cohesive look. I also have a few dresses in my client closet that are available for shoots. Putting together the perfect outfit for you to wear during your engagement session should be fun & not stressful!!
Spoiler alert: you don’t have to stress over what to wear.
You don’t need to run to the mall or order ten dresses online “just in case.” Wear what makes you feel good. What makes you stand up straighter. What makes your person look at you and say “dang.”
I’m here to help you nail that effortlessly put-together look without the panic shopping. Whether you’re leaning casual, dressy, neutral tones, or bold color pops—we’ll make it work beautifully on camera.
